Week 3 Day 2: The Power of Private Prayer

Writer's picture: Forward ChurchForward Church

Reading: Matthew 6:5-13 (NLT)

Devotional: Jesus teaches that prayer is a personal conversation with God, not a performance for others. Private prayer builds intimacy with the Father, transforming our hearts and aligning us with His will. When we pray in secret, we deepen our trust, reliance, and relationship with God. The Lord’s Prayer serves as a model—focusing on God’s holiness, His Kingdom, our needs, forgiveness, and protection.

Reflection:

  • How intentional are you about private prayer?

  • In what areas of your life do you need to trust God more through prayer?

3-Step Application:

  1. Set aside 10 minutes today to pray in a private, distraction-free space.

  2. Use the Lord’s Prayer as a guide, reflecting on each part.

  3. Journal any thoughts or insights God reveals during your prayer time.

Closing Prayer: "Father, I desire a deeper relationship with You. Help me approach You in sincerity and faith, knowing You hear me. Teach me to seek Your presence, trust Your will, and rely on Your provision. In Jesus' name, Amen."
