Reading: Ephesians 4:29-32
Devotional: Our words have tremendous power—to build up or tear down. Paul exhorts us to use our words for good, bringing encouragement to others. Today, be mindful of your speech. Are your words bringing life and encouragement? Are there patterns of negativity or criticism you need to break? Remember, our words reflect what’s in our hearts. Ask God to fill your heart with His love and grace so your words flow from that wellspring. Challenge yourself to speak words of kindness and encouragement to someone today.
Illustration: Imagine a tube of toothpaste. Once the paste is squeezed out, it can’t be put back in. Similarly, our words, once spoken, cannot be taken back. Use them wisely to bring life and not harm.
3-Step Application:
Choose one person to encourage today through a kind word, text, or note.
Pause before speaking and ask, “Will this build up or tear down?”
Reflect at the end of the day on how your words impacted others.
Prayer: Lord, guard my tongue today. Let my words be filled with kindness, encouragement, and grace. Help me to speak in a way that reflects Your love to others. Amen.
