Worship Song: "Lord, I Need You" – Matt Maher ⬅️ click to listen
Reading: Genesis 3:17-19 (NLT)
Verse 17: "Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it."
Verse 18: "It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains."
Verse 19: "By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made."
Devotional: Sin changed everything—including work. What was once a source of joy became a place of toil and frustration. Whether it’s difficult bosses, overwhelming tasks, or financial strain, we all experience the brokenness of work in some way.
But here’s the good news: God is still in control. He did not abandon us to struggle alone. Through Christ, we can find purpose in our labor, even when it’s difficult. Work is not just about survival; it is about glorifying God and serving others.
Reflection:
In what ways do you experience frustration in your work?
How can you rely on God’s strength when work becomes difficult?
3-Step Application:
Pray for patience and endurance – Ask God to help you handle difficult situations at work with grace.
Look for opportunities to serve – Even in a tough job, you can be a light to those around you.
Trust God’s provision – Know that He sees your hard work and will sustain you.
Closing Prayer: Father, I acknowledge that work can be difficult, but I trust that You are with me in every struggle. Help me to work with patience and faithfulness, knowing that You provide all I need. Strengthen me to be a light in my workplace. In Jesus' name, Amen.
